Social Housing project, Liverpool Habitat for Humanity

I worked as a volunteer from the beginning of the project to become a team member, while I was writing my dissertation for my Architecture final year. The project was filling a gap in need for housing for low income families within an area of urban regeneration in Liverpool, Toxteth. The project has been completed into stages. The first stage contained 18 terrace houses designed by Hensley Architects, comprising of high level insulation, double glazing windows with wooden frames from a renewable source and progressive development. This community project was completely hands on, from working on the roof to hammering nails into the walls,  to work with volunteers, construction teams and managing teams.

Finally, I had the chance to continue as the volunteer’s coordinator working full time and liaising closely with future home owners, the site manager and project managers. This was an incredible experience that allow me to see through a wonderful project and get acquaintance with amazing people.
